MEET THE TEAM

Studio Co-Owner | Head Coach
Lauren Schmitt
Lauren is one of the founders of City Cirque and works with our amazing coaches to ensure all of our community achieve their goals. After always wanting to do gymnastics, she turned to aerial yoga in 2019 during a stressful period at work and trying to find exercise that she enjoyed. She moved over to aerial arts in 2020 after craving the acrobatics that aerial arts offers. She took up the challenge of competing and participated in Bend The Air 2022, but was unable to take up her place at the national finals due to being pregnant. Having come from a hammock background, she will always have a soft spot for hammock, but she loves lyra and has a growing affection for cube. She enjoys the challenge of duo work on many different apparatus.
Lauren loves choreography and composing routines, while enjoying the challenge of finding ways to complement the movement and style that every individual brings. She holds qualifications in aerial teaching from Aerial Yoga Therapeutics. She also enjoys teaching people who are new to aerials the joy of flying!
Other than aerials, you will usually find Lauren working as an emergency physician or enjoying family time with her patient husband, gorgeous toddler, and cute cats.

Jess Koentjoro
Known for her flexibility and beautiful lines, Jess aims to help our amazing community reach their flexy goals! She is one of the founders and brains behind our amazing studio. Growing up in the world of gymnastics, she has a foundation in movement, strength and flexibility. After Lauren nagged her for more than half a year to come to aerial as a hobby to help with fitness and relieve stress in 2022, she fell in love with the creativity, beauty and grace that comes from the aerial arts. She has embraced the challenge of competition and was a national finalist at Bend The Air in Advanced Lyra in 2023 and 2024. While primarily training and competing on lyra, she dabbles in fabrics and enjoys having a go on our specialty apparatus. She loves cross training with pilates and integrating those principles in how she trains and conditions.
Jess has qualifications in aerial teaching from Elevate and Spin City in lyra, hammock and kids aerials. She also holds Pilates reformer qualifications.
When she is not flying, Jess works full-time as a paediatric emergency doctor so has a special interest in injury prevention, technique, and movement in young people and in the neurodiverse population. Aerial Instructor
Amelie Mullins
Amelie’s passion for aerial arts began at the age of 8, after watching an unforgettable aerial performance under a circus tent. This spark ignited a love for the craft that has now spanned over 13 years. Amelie trained extensively at a local circus on the Sunshine Coast, where she not only honed her skills in various aerial apparatus and acro but also found her calling as an instructor, teaching for five years at the same circus where she began her journey.

With a deep passion for blending emotional expression into her performances, Amelie has become known for her ability to weave storytelling and raw emotion into aerial routines. Her preferred apparatus is aerial silks, where she brings both grace and artistry into her movements. Amelie has extensive performance experience, having showcased her skills at the Woodford Folk Festival in both 2022 and 2023. She also performed at the Anywhere Festival in 2021 and has participated in a variety of other gigs throughout her career.
As an instructor, Amelie is passionate about helping her students reach their goals, guiding them in creating captivating aerial routines that highlight both their creativity and technical ability. Aerial Instructor
Kiara Maas
Kiara (aka The Noodle) is an aerialist and prosthetics/makeup artist known for blending high-flying physicality with the surreal and cinematic. With over 7 years of aerial training—most passionately on the trapeze—Kiara brings a unique, bendy, and unconventional movement style to the air, shaped by a body that seems to defy logic ("hips are on backwards" is not just a metaphor).
Her performances are a fusion of physical storytelling and special effects, drawing from her background in prosthetics and makeup to create otherworldly characters and striking visual narratives. Whether she's twisting through the air or transforming her face and body, Kiara lives to blur the lines between circus and creature.
Over the last 5 years, she’s competed and placed in multiple national competitions.
If you’re into dreamlike movement, haunting visuals, and aerial performances that feel like they crawled out of a dark fairytale—you’re in the right place.

Aerial Instructor
Diana Yung
Diana found aerial during her "quarter life crisis" back in 2017 and has never looked back. As someone who came to aerials later in life and without any sports or dance background she is passionate about helping other adult learners discover the joy of being upside down and realise that there is so much they are capable of. She started training in aerials and then undertook instructor training with the UK/US based company Paper Doll Militia whilst living in Scotland, and since relocating to sunny Australia now brings her own unique style of aerials to the scene.
Diana specialises in flowy run-on sequences and whilst she loves silks and lyra the most has been known to branch out into other apparatus including static trapeze, cloud, hammock and rope. Performance credits include the CXCampbell Aerial Christmas Cabaret in Edinburgh in 2021, first place in instructor silks at the UK Aerial Performance Championships Scotland regional event 2022, and second place in adult advanced silks at Bend the Air's Newcastle regional event in 2025.
When she's not in the air she works full time as a hospital doctor which spills over into some slightly nerdy anatomy and physiology-related segues. She's also big on diversity and representation in the creative arts, niche outdoor pursuits like horse trekking and swimming with various sea creatures, and cats.
